With bars on every level, a variety of delicacies from the city’s culinary experts and nature-inspired décor throughout the Rotunda, Layers of Nature guests will enjoy exclusive after-hours access as they dine, drink and explore across the museum. Walk under the treetops of CMC’s newest permanent exhibit, the John A. and Judy Ruthven Get Into Nature gallery. Embrace your inner carnivore or herbivore as you graze in the shadow of dinosaurs. And immerse yourself in vibrant landscape paintings that pair perfectly with a floral cocktail.
“Everyone wants to know what happens in the museum after hours. This is your chance to find out,” said Elizabeth Pierce, president & CEO of Cincinnati Museum Center. “Layers of Nature is our celebration of the world around us in all its wild, rugged beauty. In that spirit we’re curating an evening of vibrant revelry while supporting exhibits and experiences for the next generation of nature enthusiasts and stewards of our environment”
This year, you can explore your favorite exhibits and discover two new additions, all with a drink in your hand. The John A. and Judy Ruthven Get Into Nature Gallery (opening this fall) brings the incredible biodiversity of the 20,000-acre Richard and Lucile Durrell Edge of Appalachia Preserve System from Adams County to Union Terminal, immersing you in the sights, sounds and scents of the forest. The Made in Cincinnati gallery (opening July 1) introduces the makers, inventors and innovators who have built Cincinnati from Porkopolis to the Queen of the West to the modern tech hub of tomorrow. The OMNIMAX ®Theater will be available all night for those seeking that elementary school field trip thrill. America’s Epic Treasures featuring Preternatural by Michael Scott and its 33 large-scale landscape murals will also be open for Layers of Nature.
The Chuck Taylors will be performing all night and Brain Brew Custom Whiskey will offer curated bourbon tastings. Daisy Jane’s Flower Truck will let you create your own nature-inspired accent piece and a 360-degree photo booth will give you the runway to show it off.
A series of explosive spectacles, live animal encounters, conversations with curators and paleontologists and other surprises will make for one unforgettable night at the museum. Catch up with old friends and make new ones as you relive memories of field trips past and revel in culinary and cocktail excellence.
Layers of Nature is Friday, November 4 from 7 to 11:30 p.m. All-inclusive general admission tickets are $225. Early bird tickets are available for $175 through October 7. Host/Hostess packages are available for $500 and includes two VIP tickets with one-hour early admission and exclusive food by Jeff Ruby’s Culinary Entertainment and Ruby’s Chocolates, a mixology experience with Molly Wellmann featuring Big Ice and live music.
